Some Facts About Cats

  • Cats prefer having their own area to sleep, eat and go to the bathroom.
  • They also prefer the same food and to be given to them at the same time every day.
  • Cats are not herbivorous animals, they are actually carnivores and enjoy eating meat. They need the necessary nutrients available in meat to remain healthy, and feeding them only vegetables will make them ill.
  • When a cat blinks, it means it is peaceful and relaxed.
  • Relaxed cats will rub their head against your hand or knead you with their paws.
  • Unlike dogs, when a cat wags its tail it might mean it's not feeling friendly, but rather angry!
  • A shy cat will run or hide if startled. He may turn sideways and wrap his tail around his body.
  • Cats sometimes purr when they are feeling content.
  • They hiss or growl when they are afraid.
  • Some cats don't like being picked up even though they may be very loving.
  • You don't need to bathe your cat so often as they clean themselves quite well. However, groom your cat regularly to keep its coat clean and remove loose hair.
  • When choosing a kitten, select the one that plays in the centre of the litter or group. It is said to be more healthy and have a better disposition.
