Pet Awareness Week at MIPE 2004 4-7 March, Mid Valley Pet Awareness Week was officially launched on 4 March by Dr. Aziz Jamaluddin, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Veterinary Services. We organised art and essay competitions for schools and free talks for the public on pet care and local legislations on the keeping of pets. The 10 schools under our animal welfare education program participated in the competitions that were titled “Our animal friends”, “Caring for my pet at home” and “I am a responsible pet owner” along with 6 secondary schools that we invited for the first time. Top winners were from SJK(T) Vivekananda PJ, SJK(C) Serdang Baru 1, SK Bukit Kuchai, SMK Puchong Batu 14 and SMK La Salle PJ. Free talks were held for visitors to MIPE 2004 on Saturday and Sunday.
