Pet Education Program in Schools - "Children & Pets" at MIPE 2002 DBKL ruling on Licensing of Dogs |
Pet Education Program in Schools - "Children & Pets" at MIPE 2002, We are hosting a special program for school children and the public on 15 March in conjunction with the Malaysia International Pet Expo at the Mines Exhibition & Convention Centre. This Children & Pets program will mark the launch of our program on pet education for primary schools this year endorsed by the Department of Education. The objectives of the pet education program are to promote human-animal interaction as part of child development, encourage a wider awareness of and respect for all living things and inculcate responsible and caring attitudes. To give the schools a feel of the program, "Children & Pets" will comprise a colouring competition and an essay writing competition on pets for children from Standard 1-3 and Standard 4-6, respectively. It will be carried out in five schools involving a total of 1,500 children. A prize giving ceremony will be held at MIPE 2002 and officiated by a representative of the Schools Department, Ministry of Education. This will be followed by a tour of the pet expo where the children will have the opportunity to pet animals at a mini-zoo, see displays of ornamental fish and birds and watch a pet grooming demo. The Malaysia International Pet Expo 2002 is a trade and consumer fair for the pet, ornamental fish and garden pond industry organised by Kombinasi Pasifik and Mines Exhibition Management from 14-17 March. It will incorporate various trade talks, a pet care conference and pet shows. |
