DBKL ruling on Licensing of Dogs,

MNAWF was among several organizations invited to attend discussions with DBKL on the Council's two amendments namely, increase in dog licensing fee from RM10 to RM50 per dog and restriction on number of dogs that can be kept per household to two.

Following the meetings, DBKL's final decision on these issues is as follows:

1. Dog Licencing Fee
   DBKL agreed to retain the licence fee at RM10.00 per dog. It may review with the co-ordination of the related animal welfare bodies, if and when necessary.

2. Two-dog restriction
   DBKL will maintain the amendment on restriction of 2 dogs per household. If there are pet owners with more than 2 dogs they will have to write in to DBKL for exemption on the restriction until the number of dogs kept by them reduces to two, over a period of time.
